Burkina Faso has confirmed on Monday its first two Covid-19 Coronavirus cases, according to Health ministry.

Burkina Faso’s Health Minister Claudine Lougue revealed that the two patients, a husband, and wife, had recently returned to Burkina Faso from a trip to France and were now in isolation.

Burkina Faso is considered the sixth county in sub-Saharan Africa affected by this dreaded virus, which has claimed the lives of hundreds of thousands around the world.

It is worth mentioning that, the World Health Organization WHO has warned that world countries should do more and prepare for a possible pandemic because of Coronavirus outbreak.

In an official statement, WHO said that it is too early to announce a pandemic now, but the countries should be in a “phase of preparedness”.

“The epidemic will be declared when the infectious disease is easily transmitted from person to person in many parts of the world,” the statement read.

More cases of the virus, which causes respiratory disease Covid-19, continue to emerge, with outbreaks in South Korea, Italy, and Iran.

The transmission of viruses between humans happens when someone comes into contact with an infected person’s secretions, such as droplets in a cough.

They can also be transmitted by coming into contact with something an infected person has touched and then touching your mouth, nose or eyes.
