The Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the British University in Egypt (BUE) has launched its initiatives towards caring for university students in these exceptional circumstances that the world and Egypt are going through.

It was launched due to the requirements of the new Coronavirus plan, the challenges it imposes, and the radical changes it requires in the way of life in general, and teaching and learning methods in particular.

This initiative comes out of faith in the primary role of the BUE in serving the university community, and from its social responsibility towards its students and the entire Egyptian society, which the university harnesses to its full potential.

On his part, Dr. Ahmed Hamad, President of the University, explained that with the follow-up of the developments of the spread of the new Coronavirus, a feeling of psychological pressure has become an expectation for students. Therefore BUE is working to provide sufficient psychological support to its students to reduce the stress resulting from the fears that have arisen due to COVID-19.

He stressed that the safety of students comes at the top of the priorities that the university has been working on since the beginning of this virus.

Professor Shadia Fahim, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at BUE, said: "This initiative depends on two main axes. The first axis is the total of psychological counseling services provided by the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, to help students and society overcome anxiety, sadness, and depression. Also, the tension accompanying the current crisis, as these services are provided throughout the week via a group of qualified specialists in the areas of psychological and clinical counseling."

Fahim added: "These services are provided with the highest degree of professionalism while preserving the privacy of the inpiduals receiving the service, which makes them highly popular with students and university members in addition to many members of the neighboring society."

According to Fahim, the second axis includes the total academic services provided by the college in its three departments (English Language and Literature, Psychology, and Chinese Language.) These services include the provision of lectures through the Internet using specialized programs which are ( MSTeam, Zoom, etc.) which provides the opportunity to communicate with students throughout the day using the university's online education platform (e-learning), as well as through email and social media platforms (Facebook, WhatsApp).

The college spares no effort to carry out its educational and service mission in a way that contributes to overcoming the current crisis without any harm to students and members of society as a whole.
