Britney Spears' father, Jamie, signaled in a legal response Thursday that he intends to step down as conservator of his daughter’s $60 million estate.
Jamie has controlled his daughter’s affairs since she suffered a mental health breakdown in 2008.
In June, the singer announced her intention to remove her father as her conservator after describing her controlled life in an open court. She disclosed that her dad loved to control her, detailing that she had been drugged, forced to take birth control, and made to work against her will under the guardianship agreement.

The filings did not say when Jamie would step down from his role as he felt there were no grounds for immediately removing or suspending him.
“Mr. Spears is willing to step down when the time is right, but the transition needs to be orderly and include a resolution of matters pending before the Court,” his attorneys wrote.
In his filing, Jamie also took aim at Lynne, noting that any statements she made on behalf of their daughter must be questioned based on how little involvement she had in her life over the last 13 years.
The filing adds: "all interested parties to meet and confer in order to resolve those pending matters in the best interests of Ms. Spears".

The singer’s attorney, Mathew Rosengart has described the decision as "vindication" and a major victory for the singer.
In a statement, Rosengart stated: "We are pleased that Mr. Spears and his lawyer have today conceded in a filing that he must be removed. It is vindication for Britney. We are disappointed, however, by their ongoing shameful and reprehensible attacks on Ms. Spears and others."
He added that a vigorous investigation into the conduct of Mr. Spears and others would continue and accused him of reaping millions from his daughter's estate.
The decision comes after months of public pressure from the singer's supporters and a battle with the pop singer to boot her allegedly abusive dad from her affairs.

On July 26, Rosengart officially petitioned the court to push her father out of the legal arrangement.
He argued that not only has the singer continuously demanded her father be removed from the position, and even be arrested for conservator abuse, but also her doctors, mother Lynne Spears, and personal conservator Jodi Montgomery all showed support for James’ removal.
Last Friday, the pop star's father revealed he recently discussed whether to place his daughter back in a mental institution as he rejected efforts to remove him as co-conservator of her multimillion-dollar estate.
