British boxer Sherif Lawal, aged 29, tragically passed away after collapsing during his first professional fight in the United Kingdom, as confirmed by the event's organizers.
Lawal was competing against Portuguese boxer Malam Varela at the Harrow Sports Centre, located in the northwest suburbs of London. The event was promoted by Warren Boxing Management.
Warren Boxing Management released a statement on social media to mourn the loss and extend their condolences to Lawal's friends and family. The statement detailed, "Regrettably, during Sherif's fight, he collapsed and despite the immediate medical response, his death was later confirmed."
