The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, warned of the consequences of Russia's deployment of nuclear weapons in Belarus, considering this step a "threat to European security."
"Belarus hosting Russian nuclear weapons would mean an irresponsible escalation & threat to European security. Belarus can still stop it, it is their choice," Borrell tweeted.
"The EU stands ready to respond with further sanctions," he added.
