The U.S. giant “Boeing” resorted to making an offer it described as the best and the last, with the aim of persuading workers to end the strike.

Union officials have rejected Boeing’s offer to increase hourly wages by 30% in an effort to unwind a strike that began more than a decade ago, stressing that it would not even be offered to workers for a vote.

“This proposal is not enough to counter what is of concern to us, and Boeing missed the goal with this proposal,” officials leading the negotiations with the company’s management said in a letter to members.

In the letter, they stressed that the company’s directors “are trying to cause a rift among our members and weaken our solidarity through this differentiated policy.”

Boeing had improved its initial offer, seeking to end the strike at Seattle-area factories.

“We initially presented the offer to the union and later shared the details with our workers transparently,” the company said in a statement, adding, “We have discussed in good faith with the IAM since formal negotiations began in March.

The company gave workers until midnight Friday to approve the proposal, calling it “the best and last.”
