The Canadian Premier League final at TD Place Stadium in Ottawa delivered one of the most unforgettable atmospheres in the league’s history,  not just because of the football, but because of the weather.

Atletico Ottawa claimed a 2-1 victory over Cavalry FC in conditions that can only be described as a full-on blizzard.

Heavy snowfall completely covered the pitch before kickoff and continued relentlessly throughout the match, turning the final into a dramatic winter showcase.

Ottawa goalkeeper Nathan Ingham grabbing a shovel to clear his own penalty area during the 15th minute, a scene more reminiscent of a snowstorm driveway than a championship match.

Meanwhile, fans, nearly 13,000 in attendance, braved the storm, some even wearing ski goggles as the wind and snow hammered the stadium.

But the weather wasn’t the only headline. David Rodríguez produced what many are already calling the greatest goal in CPL history, scoring a spectacular bicycle kick amid the swirling snow.

A moment of pure brilliance in pure chaos.

This final will be remembered not only for Ottawa’s victory, but for the surreal, cinematic, only-in-Canada conditions that turned the match into an instant classic.
