US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will visit Tonga, New Zealand and Australia from July 24 to 29.
In a statment, US State Department reported on Thursday, that Blinken will visit Nukuʻalofa, Tonga, in order to inaugurate the new US embassy there.
He will also hold meetings with senior officials in order to discuss common democratic values and an interdependent, prosperous, peaceful and resilient vision between the US and Tonga for the Pacific region.
Then, US Secretary of State will travel to the New Zealand capital, Wellington, on July 27, to conduct important discussions on shared priorities with senior government partners.
Furthermore, Blinken will conclude the trip with travel to Brisbane July 28-29, to attend the Australia – U.S. Ministerial Consultations (AUSMIN) and hold bilateral meetings. Discussions will include coordinating on our vision for a free and open Indo-Pacific, deepening security cooperation, and advancing the third pillar of our relationship: climate and clean energy.
