U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke by phone on Monday with Israeli President Isaac Herzog about efforts to prevent escalation in the region following the rocket attack in the Golan Heights and to reach a diplomatic solution that would allow citizens on both sides of the Israeli-Lebanese border to return to their homes.
According to a statement from the U.S. Department of State on its official website, both sides also reviewed ongoing efforts to achieve a ceasefire and ensure the release of hostages held in the Gaza Strip. Blinken emphasized Washington's commitment to establishing lasting peace and security in the region.
Earlier, Beirut's Rafic Hariri International Airport announced the cancellation of several incoming flights due to uncertainty about the security situation in the country following the attack on the town of Majdal Shams in the Golan Heights.
