US President Joe Biden announced on Tuesday he set a meeting with congress about the laws related to guns and weapons after the massive tragic shooting of the Texas elementary school that left behind 21 victims.
Biden said during his meeting with the Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern in the White House: "There's an awful lot of suffering."
He also told the reporters in the meeting room: "I will meet with the Congress on guns. I promise you."
On her side, Ardern expressed her condolences to Biden over the victims of the latest two shootings in Texas and Buffalo, and reflected on her experience of dealing with the massive massacre of Christchurch.
Ardern revealed: "It's been devastating to see the impact on those communities," highlighting that she can share New Zealand's experience dealing with this issue.
In 2019, an armed man killed 51 Muslims in attacks against two mosques, therefore, Ardern issued a ban on semiautomatic firearms and other gun forms.
Previously, US Vice-President Kamala Harris asked US citizens and lawmakers to stand against the lobby of weapons after the latest two fatal shootings in Buffalo, and Texas.Harris’ speeches came during her visit to the funeral of one of the victims of the Buffalo supermarket shooting. The funeral was for Ruth Whitfield, the oldest victim of the shooting.
She said: “This is a moment that requires all good people, all God-loving people to stand up and say ”We will not stand for this. Enough is enough.”
“We will come together based on what we all know we have in common, and we will not let those people who are motivated by hate separate us or make us feel fear.”
