Today, Sunday, US President Joe Biden commented on the preliminary agreement in the Senate regarding the possession of weapons in the US.

"Obviously, it does not do everything that I think is needed, but it reflects important steps in the right direction and would be the most significant gun safety legislation to pass Congress in decades," Biden said in a statement.

Senators announced an agreement on new gun legislation, to combat gun violence.

Members are working to increase background checks for gun buyers.

Last month, 21 people, including 19 children were killed in a mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, and the other in a New York supermarket that left 10 black people dead.

Biden responded to the accident news, saying: “It’s time to turn this pain into action for every parent, for every citizen of this country.”

He added: “For every parent, every citizen of this country. We have to make it clear to every elected official in this country: it’s time to act. It’s time for those who obstruct or delay or blocked the common-sense gun laws – we need to let you know that we will not forget.”

These incidents contributed to launching the call for protests that were planned to be organized in hundreds of locations.
