US President Joe Biden said on Sunday he was disappointed that his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, would not attend the G20 leaders' summit in India, but added that he "will be able to see him."
Biden added, without going into details: "I am disappointed ... but I will be able to see him."
In the same context, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said, in previous statements, that the upcoming summit of the Group of Twenty in India is still important despite the absence of Russia and China.
Scholz added that the G20 still has an important contribution to make and a "major commitment" to be made, especially in light of the increasing importance of the BRICS grouping of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
