Senator Bernie Sanders has issued a scathing critique of Donald Trump’s leadership, labeling him the most dangerous president in the history of the United States. In an exclusive interview with the Spanish newspaper El País, the Vermont senator and progressive leader warned that Trump’s actions pose an unprecedented threat to American democracy and international law.

An Assault on Democracy Sanders characterized Trump as an authoritarian figure actively working to undermine the U.S. Constitution by "usurping the powers of Congress." He specifically targeted the administration’s use of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), accusing Trump of weaponizing the agency as a "domestic army" to enforce his agenda.

"The American people are the ones who will reject this tyranny," Sanders stated, expressing optimism that Democrats could regain control of the House of Representatives in upcoming elections—a prospect he believes is "highly realistic."

Foreign Policy and Global Precedents The senator did not limit his criticism to domestic issues. Sanders sharply condemned Trump’s interventions in Venezuela, calling them a clear violation of international law. He argued that a powerful nation should not unilaterally decide who governs another sovereign state.

"What happened in Venezuela sets a dangerous precedent," Sanders noted. "How can the United States condemn Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine after attacking Venezuela?" He urged a return to diplomacy and peaceful resolution of international disputes as the only way to "preserve the planet."

The Influence of Big Money Sanders also highlighted what he calls the "power of big money" in American politics. He accused Trump of openly demonstrating that the "billionaire class" runs the government. According to the senator, super PACs and wealthy donors in both the Democratic and Republican parties control the political process, essentially "buying and selling politicians."

As the political climate in the U.S. continues to intensify, Sanders’ comments reflect a deepening ideological divide and a call for a fundamental shift toward grassroots democracy and diplomatic engagement.
