Belgium's Minister of the Interior and Institutional Reform, Annelies Verlinden affirmed Egypt's pioneering role in the field of combating terrorism and illegal immigration, expressing the Belgian side's readiness to further strengthen bilateral cooperation with the Arab Republic of Egypt.
This came during a meeting with Egyptian Ambassador-Designate to Belgium Badr Abdel-Aty.
The meeting dealt with ways to support the distinguished relations between Egypt and Belgium, as the two sides affirmed their keenness to enhance cooperation in various fields, including security and combating terrorism, in light of the momentum witnessed in bilateral relations, especially after the first visit of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Belgium in February 2022.
Abdel-Aty also reviewed with the Belgian minister the comprehensive Egyptian approach to combating terrorism and extremism, in addition to the national efforts to eliminate illegal immigration.
