A spokesperson for the Chinese mission to the European Union expressed Beijing's strong protest over the inclusion of Chinese companies in the latest package of sanctions imposed by the European Union on Russia.
The spokesperson said, according to the Chinese newspaper Global Times, that China has always been committed to promoting peace and dialogue on the Ukrainian issue, has never provided lethal weapons to the parties to the conflict, and strictly controls the export of dual-use items.
He added that China urges the European Union to immediately stop applying double standards in economic and trade cooperation with Russia and to stop infringing on the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies. He added that China will take necessary measures to resolutely safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
This comes as the European Union has approved the 19th package of sanctions against Russia as part of its efforts to pressure Moscow.
