FC Barcelona booked their place in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals after edging past Borussia Dortmund 5–3 on aggregate, despite suffering a 3–1 defeat in the second leg at Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday night.
Dortmund came into the match needing to overturn a heavy first-leg deficit and started with urgency. Their opener came in the 11th minute when Guinean forward Serhou Guirassy coolly converted a penalty, giving the hosts an early boost.
The second half saw Dortmund continue their comeback push, and Guirassy doubled the lead in the 49th minute with a powerful header, making it 2–0 on the night. However, Barcelona gained some breathing room shortly after when Ramí Bensebaini inadvertently turned the ball into his own net in the 54th minute, pulling one back for the Catalans at 2–1.
Guirassy completed a brilliant hat-trick in the 76th minute after capitalizing on a costly defensive error from Barcelona, putting Dortmund 3–1 up and reigniting hopes for a miraculous comeback. However, the aggregate score remained out of reach, with Barcelona progressing 5–3 over the two legs.
While Dortmund claimed the win on the night, it was Barcelona who emerged victorious overall, securing a spot in the Champions League semi-finals for the first time since 2019.
