On Thursday, the Bahraini parliament announced the departure of the Israeli ambassador from the Kingdom, alongside the return of its ambassador from Israel, marking a cessation of economic relations between the two nations.

This significant diplomatic shift underscores Bahrain's long-standing support for the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, as repeatedly affirmed by the King in various forums and events.

The parliamentary statement highlighted that the ongoing war, military operations, and continuous Israeli escalation, especially in the disregard of international humanitarian law, have propelled the council to demand more decisive actions to safeguard the lives and well-being of innocent civilians in Gaza and all Palestinian territories.

It's pertinent to note that Bahrain normalized its relations with Israel as part of the Abraham Accords of 2020, facilitated by the United States, which also included the UAE, Morocco, and Sudan.

However, the current unfolding events have led to a re-evaluation of these diplomatic ties.

The Speaker of the Bahraini parliament expressed pride and appreciation for King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's dedicated support for the Palestinian cause.

He reiterated the unwavering stance towards the rights of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with international resolutions.
