Islam calls for human solidarity and encourages concerted efforts and cooperation for the benefit of humanity and helping other people. Many texts of the Qur’an and Sunnah call for this. Allah Almighty says, "Cooperate with one another in goodness and righteousness" (Qur'an, 5: 2). The Prophet (pbuh) said, "If you help your brother, Allah will help you" (Al-Bukhari and Muslim(, and said "If you relieve a hardship for a believer in this world, Allah will relieve one of your hardships on the Day of Resurrection" (Muslim).
Islam also calls for giving money for charity as one of the aspects of human solidarity and interdependence. The Prophet (pbuh) said, "If you can guard yourself against Hellfire, even with half a date, do so” (Muslim).
The Prophet (pbuh) set an example for the whole world by promoting human solidarity and interdependence. His wife, Khadija, may Allah be pleased with her, said, "Never! By Allah, Allah will never disgrace you. You keep good relations with your kith and kin, help the poor and the destitute, serve your guests generously and assist the deserving calamity-afflicted ones" (Al-Bukhari). Al-Nawawi said: “This is an indication that good manners and good qualities are the reason for safety from calamities.”
On the International Human Solidarity Day, Al-Azhar Al-Sharif urges individuals, civil and international institutions to put in a great deal of effort for the relief of the affected and afflicted, the help of the poor, and the benefit of others. It also calls on the international community, concerned bodies, and all fair-minded people in the world to show solidarity with the Palestinian people and support their legitimate struggle in the face of the unjust Zionist occupation and its terrorist practices until this brutal occupation on the blessed land of Palestine is ended.
