Austria Levies Heavy Fines on People Who Refuse Compulsory Vaccination

The Austrian newspaper "PRESS" reported that the government of the country affirmed that anyone who refuses the receive compulsory vaccination against the Coronavirus will be fined with a value exceeding 7 thousand Euros.

According to the draft law referred to by the newspaper, the local authorities will invite people who have not been vaccinated to take the anti-Corona vaccine, and in the event of non-attendance and response, they will be contacted again within four weeks.

If they refuse to comply and take the vaccinations, they will face a fine of up to 3.6 thousand Euros or four weeks in prison.

Earlier, Austrian Chancellor Alexander Schellenberg announced the introduction of mandatory vaccination against the Coronavirus as of  February 1, 2022.

Those people who have twice received a fine for refusing to be vaccinated, as well as those whose actions lead to a "grave danger to human life or health" will be fined 7.2 thousand Euros.

According to the Austrian newspaper, the final version of the bill will be published after December 6.

Exceptions will be made for those with health risks associated with the vaccine, and for pregnant women and children under 12 years old.

In mid-November, the country's authorities announced the closure of non-vaccinated citizens, and as of November 22, this closure became nationwide.
