Australia Imposes Sanctions against 4 Iranian Individuals, 3 Entities

Australia has decided to impose targeted financial sanctions and travel bans on four Individuals people and three entities, citing their involvement in suppressing the Iranian individuals, according to a statement by Australia's Foreign Minister Penny Wong.

As reported by Bloomberg, these sanctions are aimed at Sa'id Montazer al-Mahdi, the spokesperson for Iran's Law Enforcement Force, among others. 

They also target the Cyber Police Crime Unit and the state-backed television channel "Press TV" in Iran.

In her statement, Wong noted that these sanctions come on the first anniversary of the killing of the Iranian girl, Mahsa Amini, at the hands of Iranian security forces.

She highlighted that this marks the first time the Australian government has imposed targeted financial sanctions and travel bans under the recently expanded Australian sanctions regime.
