The American University in Cairo (AUC) announced the completion of the spring semester through distance learning in order to ensure the continuity of the educational process, allowing the university to focus on providing the best possible educational service to its students during this period, especially as the semester officially ends in May.
On March 22, the AUC decided to shift to e-learning as one of several preventive measures it has taken to tackle the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
"After consultations with faculty members, department heads, and deans, in addition to analyzing the results of polls, the university reached the decision to complete the spring semester through distance education," AUC Provost Ehab Abdel-Rahman said.
Abdel-Rahman affirmed that the university is adopting new ways to improve its experience in e-learning through increasing interaction between students and faculty members to answer all their inquiries.
"We are now having discussions concerning the assessment and attendance policy as well as the way to monitor grades for this semester, and we will announce the university's approach to each of these inquiries on Monday," he concluded.
