If you click on “around” on their Facebook page, you will discover what the “Athrodeel” band is all about, you only bear one thing, “Let's change the sound of war with the sound of music.”, which is the quote of their mission in life.

The band members consist of married Syrian musicians, guitarist Ahmad Diab and soprano Aseel Massoud, who is currently performing in Europe since the start of their project “Love in Syria”.

"Athrodeel", is a Syrian word that means"Mawtini" (my homeland), a word that means everything to the musicians, which was why they have chosen the word as the name of their band.

The couple, residing in Barcelona, revealed in a press statement that their project aims to introduce Syrian music to Europe.

"We performed several concerts in Barcelona and France, and had it not been for the current circumstances that are unfolding due to the coronavirus pandemic, we would hold concerts in Switzerland and Portugal."

The “Love in Syria” concerts were with the collaboration of Spanish and Syrian musicians residing in Europe and from other elite musicians.

The musicians were going to wear Syrian traditional garments in the performances, which was represented by Damascene Abayas, and made in Ghanaian embroidery so that there would be an integration of the Syrian image on stage.”

As for the band's second project, “Salam from Andalusia”, it started last summer at the Damascus Opera House to introduce flamenco music and present an Arab mix with it as a kind of cultural exchange.

Not only did the couple faced war, but today they also facing the outbreak from the balcony of their house in Barcelona. They were the first to open their balcony to unleashing their talents amid the silence that surrounded the neighborhood because of quarantine.

Masoud also addressed what is happening in the city, saying: “The current situation paralyzed movement in Spain, even going out on the road is not possible, a breakdown in the health system and the numbers of patients are very large, and the only solution in our hands is to protect ourselves and isolate, to avoid catastrophe so we thought of contributing something from our home. ”

She pointed out that they are attempting to provide a dose of optimism for our neighbors every evening with their "Shibak Betna"  initiative, as well as to dedicate the music to the heroes of the health sector from their home.

"It also aims to uplight the sprits of our elderly neighbors, who need a positive push to continue well, we seek with our initiative to provide happiness amid the difficult conditions that everyone is living due to the quarantine.” added Masoud.

People loved the initiative and sang along with them as well as hold banners that read “Thank you,” in Arabic or of the "Syrian flag", or of "Damascus".

Moreover, the Syrian couple often received chocolate bars as an expression of gratitude.

Diab and Masoud continue to spread love and peace in the midst of war and fear, in the hope that they will always achieve their goal of spreading music and joy.
