At least 2 people were killed and several others injured when a bus passed over a landmine in northern Burkina Faso, on Sunday.

A public transport bus was completely destroyed when it passed over a landmine a few kilometers from Tabarco Town, killing two passengers and ten others were injured, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP) quoting an eyewitness.

Burkina Faso has been suffering from terrorist attacks since 2015, when terrorists loyal to Al-Qaeda and The Islamic State (ISIS) began launching raids across the border with Mali, with the total victims of these attacks reaching more than 2,000 people.

In Burkina Faso, homemade bomb attacks have doubled since 2018 in, killing nearly 300 civilians and military personnel.

The authorities in Burkina Faso announced, last February, that the death toll from the explosion of an unlicensed gold mine in the southwest of the country had risen to 63, and about 40 injured.
