Veteran actor Mohie Ismail and philosopher Saeed Tawfik, former secretary-general of Egypt’s Supreme Council of Culture, inaugurated three contemporary art exhibitions at Ḍay Gallery in Giza, joined by art critic Hesham Kandil. The shows run through Dec. 6.
The first exhibition, “Madness of Memory,” by renowned artist Ahmed El-Ganainy, spans nearly five decades of work, exploring personal and collective memory through symbol-laden compositions that reflect social and cultural realities.
The second show, “Familiar Faces,” by artist and critic Shaimaa Mahmoud Rahim, studies emotional identity through portraiture that blends features of real sitters with those of public figures to uncover hidden psychological layers.
The third exhibition, “Dissolving the Link,” presents works by three unrelated artists sharing the name Hassan Mohamed Hassan, documenting their distinct artistic journeys and unexpected intersections.
Hisham Kandil, director of Atelier Al-Arab, said the strong turnout has prompted plans to open new exhibition spaces across Greater Cairo.
