Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi affirmed interest in achieving a quantum leap in the bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Armenia, especially by encouraging cooperation between the businessmen community in the two countries in a way that reflects the development of the volume of trade and investment exchange.

This came during President Sisi' meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

Moreover, they underlined the need to hold the sixth round of the joint committee for economic, scientific and technical cooperation in Cairo, as soon as possible in light of its role as an institutional mechanism for dialogue between the two sides.

They also discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation in a number of  promising fields such as energy, infrastructure, information technology, food and pharmaceutical industries, as well as supporting Egypt's endeavors to establish a free trade zone with the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.

On his part, Armenian PM expressed his happiness at President Sisi's visit to Armenia for the first time, stressing his country's interest in developing its relations with Egypt in light of the centrality of its role in the Middle East and Africa, as well as its independent and balanced foreign policy in dealing with complex challenges in region.

Moreover, Pashinyan also praised the historical and special relations that have long linked the two friendly countries, and the momentum witnessed by those relations during the recent period through the exchange of high-level visits, the latest of which was the participation of the Armenian President in the World Climate Summit (COP27) held in Sharm El-Sheikh last November.

Furthermore, the talks also witnessed an exchange of views regarding a number of regional files and crises, with a review of their repercussions on the security of the European continent.

In this regard, Armenian PM appreciated the relevant Egyptian efforts to reach political solutions to the various crises in the Middle East.

Concerning the Eastern Europe and South Caucasus region, the two sides agreed on the need to intensify coordination and consultation on issues and files of common interest in this regard, especially in light of developments of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and its economic repercussions on the world.
