Iranian Foreign Minister (FM) Abbas Araghchi expressed confidence in the possibility of reaching an agreement with the United States regarding Iran's nuclear program.
Araghchi emphasized that achieving a "fair and equitable" deal, one that ensures Tehran does not possess nuclear weapons, remains attainable, even within a short timeframe.
In an interview with CNN, the Minister noted that while Iran has lost trust in the United States as a negotiating partner, the exchange of indirect messages through friendly nations is helping create conditions for "productive and realistic" talks.
Moreover, he stressed that future negotiations must focus on Iranian nuclear capabilities, urging all parties to avoid demanding "the impossible," which could squander the opportunity for an understanding.
In return, Araghchi stated that Tehran expects the lifting of U.S. sanctions and respect for its right to continue uranium enrichment for peaceful purposes, in accordance with international laws and conventions.
Adopting a cautionary tone, the Foreign Minister asserted that his country is prepared for war should the diplomatic path fail, warning that any potential conflict "would likely transcend Iran's borders."
Furthermore, he described such a war as a "catastrophe for everyone," confirming that U.S. military bases in the region would be among the targets in the event of a military confrontation.
