Israeli figures show that the number of Palestinians and Jews between the river and the sea is roughly equal, with a slim majority in favor of the Palestinians for the first time in many decades.

The Israeli newspaper, Haaretz, said that the "turning point" occurred in 2020. The newspaper reported that at least two Israeli security bodies have worked in the past two years on reports on the Israeli-Palestinian demography. Two separate reports were based on the collection and analysis of data from various statistical institutions, and they came to similar conclusions, that “at some point, during the year 2020 the turning point occurred, and for the first time in many decades there are slightly more Arabs than Jews between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River.”

According to the data of the Israeli Bureau of Statistics, at the end of 2020, the population of Israel reached 9.2 million; among them are 6.9 million Jews, 1.9 million Arabs, and 466,000; that is, 5 percent of the population, officially described as "others".
