The 29th session of the Arab Council of Ministers for Communications and Information convened Thursday, chaired by Ambassador Dr. Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Malki, to advance regional digital cooperation and address critical infrastructure challenges.
A primary focus was Palestine’s recent achievement of full membership in the Universal Postal Union (UPU), securing equal rights and privileges within the global body. The Council also reviewed the severe damage to Gaza’s telecommunications sector following recent conflicts.
Ambassador Al-Malki announced the establishment of an Arab Committee for Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies. The Council also adopted the "Arab Charter for AI Ethics," a guiding document designed to ensure ethical technology use across the region.
Additional discussions centered on the 2026-2029 Regional Postal Development Plan and preparations for the upcoming International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Plenipotentiary Conference this November.
