The Arab League (AL) welcomed on Saturday the launching of an UN-facilitated intra-Sudanese political process to end the political crisis in the country.
"Arab League's support comes from its keenness to preserve the gains that have been achieved for the Sudanese people over the past two years," AL Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit said in a statement, underlining the importance of addressing all causes of political, social, and economic instability in the country.
The Secretary-General of the Arab League affirmed the League's readiness and determination to cooperate fully with the United Nations to help reach a consensus that would contribute to achieving the aspirations of the Sudanese people towards stability, peace, development, and democracy.
