The Arab League’s General Secretariat will host the fifth meeting of the joint committee of experts and representatives from Arab Ministries of Justice and Interior starting today, January 26, through January 28, 2026.
The three-day session, organized by the Arab League's Legal Affairs Department, aims to finalize the "Draft Arab Model Law for the Protection of Children from Recruitment in Armed Conflicts." Minister Plenipotentiary Dr. Maha Bakheet, Director of the Legal Affairs Department, stated that the meeting fulfills a mandate from the 41st session of the Council of Arab Justice Ministers.
Participants will review and discuss the draft's remaining articles to establish a unified regional legal framework. The committee’s final recommendations are scheduled for presentation at the next Council of Arab Justice Ministers session in November 2026.
