Arab League Reaffirms Commitment to Disability Inclusion on International Day of Persons with Disabilities

The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States reaffirmed its commitment to supporting persons with disabilities on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2025, highlighting their essential role in building inclusive and resilient Arab societies.

This year’s theme, “Empowering Inclusive Communities for Persons with Disabilities to Advance Social Progress,” aligns with the outcomes of the Second World Summit for Social Development, which emphasized the need for just, inclusive, and sustainable societies. The League said integrating disability perspectives into public policy is fundamental to achieving comprehensive development and ensuring that no one is left behind.

The Secretariat noted it continues to monitor progress through reports from member states, acknowledging significant achievements while recognizing persistent challenges facing persons with disabilities across the region. It urged the continued implementation of the Secretary-General’s initiative, “The Second Arab Decade for Persons with Disabilities 2023–2032,” which offers key developmental pillars and practical national action plans.
