Arab League Participates in Signing Ceremony of UN Cybercrime Convention in Hanoi

The League of Arab States is taking part in the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention on Countering the Use of Information and Communications Technologies for Criminal Purposes, held in Hanoi, Vietnam, on October 25–26.

Representing the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Media and Communication Sector, is attending the ceremony at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Ambassador Khattabi described the signing of the convention as “a historic step toward establishing a safe global digital space,” emphasizing that it sets frameworks for international cooperation to prevent and combat cybercrime in all its forms. He added that the agreement would help protect individuals and institutions while strengthening technical capacity-building, particularly in developing countries.

The convention marks a significant milestone in global efforts to address the growing threat of cybercrime through international coordination and shared expertise.
