Arab League Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Media and Communication Sector Ahmed Rashid Khattabi on Sunday underscored the importance of quality, innovation and ethical standards in Arab media during the first meeting of the 10th Arab Media Excellence Award committee.
Speaking at the Arab League headquarters, Khattabi said the award, launched by a decision of the Arab Ministers of Information Council, aims to promote professional excellence, creativity and responsible competition across print, television, radio and digital media.
He praised Kuwait’s sponsorship of the award under the Arab League umbrella, describing it as a key pillar in enhancing transparency and credibility, and welcomed proposals to establish a board of trustees composed of experienced media professionals.
Khattabi noted that digital transformation and artificial intelligence dominated proposed themes for this edition, stressing their growing impact on media ethics, content production and professional training, as well as their broader role in supporting sustainable development goals for 2030.
