The Arab League has launched a specialized training program aimed at strengthening the skills of Sudanese government officials in international negotiations and peacebuilding. The program was inaugurated at the League’s headquarters in Cairo under the patronage of Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit, who also chairs the Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African States.
The course, titled “The Role of International Negotiations in Restoring and Building Peace,” is being implemented by the Fund under the supervision of Assistant Secretary-General Ambassador Mohand Saleh Laghouzi. A total of 32 Sudanese officials from various ministries are taking part.
Sudan’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Lt. Gen. Imad al-Din Adawi, and Khaled El-Shazly, Deputy Secretary-General of the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development, attended the opening. Senior Egyptian diplomats, including Ambassadors Mohamed Badr El-Din Zayed and Salah Halima, also contributed to the program.
The initiative underscores the Arab League’s commitment to supporting Sudan’s efforts to restore stability and advance sustainable peace during a critical phase for the country.
