In a joint effort between the League of Arab States, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the first State of the Climate in the Arab Region 2024 report has been launched.
The report marks a milestone in advancing collective understanding of climate patterns, related risks, and their social and economic impacts. Ambassador Dr. Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Maliki, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Economic Affairs Sector, said the report provides a “credible scientific assessment based on updated data and regional insights,” serving as a vital foundation for policymaking and sound decision-making.
He emphasized that the report stands as a successful example of cooperation among national meteorological centers, UN agencies, and regional institutions, paving the way for joint action toward a more sustainable and climate-resilient future for the Arab region.
