CAIRO, Mar 8 (MENA) – Arab foreign ministers called on Iran to immediately stop all provocative actions and threats against neighboring countries, including the use of armed groups and militias in the region.
The call came in a resolution issued after an extraordinary meeting of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level held via video conference and chaired by the United Arab Emirates. The meeting was convened at the request of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, and Egypt, with the support of member states, to address Iranian attacks on Arab countries.
The council condemned what it described as unlawful attacks targeting Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, and Iraq, saying the strikes violated the sovereignty of these states and undermined regional peace and security. The ministers said the attacks breach international law, the UN Charter, and international humanitarian law.
The resolution also condemned strikes on civilian facilities and infrastructure, including airports, ports, energy installations, food security facilities, residential areas, and diplomatic missions, saying such actions put civilian lives at risk and caused casualties and material damage.
Arab foreign ministers reaffirmed support for the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of the affected countries and backed all necessary steps taken to protect their security, stability, and citizens, including the right to respond to the attacks.
