Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of Arab League, met today, Friday, with Sudanese Prime Minister (PM), Kamal Idris, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Jamal Rushdi, the spokesperson for the Secretary-General, stated that Aboul Gheit attentively listened to Idris’ briefing on the latest military developments on the ground in Sudan, particularly in the city of El Fasher in Darfur, which is facing a dire humanitarian situation due to the ongoing siege.
The spokesperson explained that the Secretary-General reaffirmed during the meeting the Arab League’s steadfast commitment to upholding the sovereignty of Sudan, preserving its territorial integrity, and safeguarding its national institutions.
For his part, the Sudanese Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for the continuous support provided by the Arab League to his country.
