Egyptian actress Amina Khalil is participating in Ramadan 2021 drama marathon with TV series “Khali Balek Min ZiZi”.
The series is written by Mariam Naoum and directed by Karim El Shennawy.
The title of the series bears a similarity to the title of a 1972 musical film called "Khali Balek Min ZouZou" starring beloved Egyptian actress, Soad Hosny, which sparked speculations that it's a remake of the film.
In a statement on Saturday, Naoum denied the claims, noting that the series is titled “Khali Balek Min ZiZi” and not "ZiZi”.
"It has nothing to do with the film, not from near or far, and its idea is completely different," she told Et bil Arabi.
The series will also star Egyptian actor Mohamed Mamdouh. It marks the fourth collaboration between Khalil and Mamdouh, after TV series “La Totfe’ Al Shams”, “Qabeel”, and the film “Al Khalia”.
Khalil’s latest artistic work is TV series “Leh la” (Why not), which marks her first leading role in a TV series.
She was set to participate in the Ramadan 2020 drama marathon with the series, which was slated to be screened during the second half of Ramadan, but the production was suspended to stem the spread of the novel coronavirus, and its creators failed to catch up with the shooting schedule due to lack of time.
“Leh La” also stars Sherine Reda, Hala Sedki, Hany Adel, Omar Al Saeed, Sherine, Mohsen Mohy El-Din, Abdel Rahman Abou Zahra, and others.
The TV series is written by Mariam Naoum and directed by Mariam Abou Ouf.
