Mohamed El-Sherbiny, an American of Egyptian descent, decided to run for the US Congressional elections for the state of California, the first phase of which will be held next March, to be the only Arab voice in Congress.
In a special statement to the Middle East News Agency, El-Sherbiny praised Egypt’s achievements in various fields, expressing his aspiration to support Egyptian-American relations in the political, economic and cultural fields.
Regarding his vision of the current events in the Gaza Strip, he expressed his condemnation over the casualties, wishing for an immediate ceasefire to spare the blood of innocent people and entering into a peace process to achieve a two-state solution and establish a Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
El-Sherbiny, a businessman, who has lived in California for 38 years, enjoys strong relationships with many American politicians and businessmen through his career and work in the field of tourism, which encouraged him to run for US Congress.
