A Russian official close to the Kremlin has warned that London would be the first city to be bombed if World War III broke out, in Russia's latest attack on the West, according to the Daily Mail.

Andrei Gorolev, a State Duma politician and close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, threatened Britain via the state-run Rossiya 1 channel.

The warnings come amid renewed fears that the Ukraine war could escalate into a global conflict over Lithuania, a NATO member that is blocking sanctioned goods from Russia's Kaliningrad region.

Gorolev said that the only way to prevent the embargo is a Russian invasion of the "NATO" countries, which would trigger the fifth item and likely ignite World War III.

"Secondly, we will reduce the entire anti-missile defense system, everywhere, 100 percent," he said. Third, we will certainly not start from Warsaw, Paris, or Berlin. London will be the first city to be bombed.
