The Information and Decision Support Center of the Cabinet (IDSC) highlighted a new project proposed by a citizen through the center's "Hiwar" platform, titled "A Tree for Every Student."
The "A Tree for Every Student" initiative encourages first-grade students at each educational level to plant a tree or a plant within their school grounds. This effort is designed to foster a sense of belonging to both their homeland and school, promote environmental sustainability in Egypt, enhance the aesthetic appeal of their surroundings, and contribute to the fight against climate change.
During the discussions, the Director of the Nile Egyptian International Schools emphasized the significance of integrating environmental concepts into educational curricula and ensuring their effective application. This focus aligns with the mission of the Nile Schools, which recognizes the positive impact such initiatives have on students, particularly in creating a healthy environment for their development.
Students expressed their enthusiasm for the experience of planting trees and plants, as well as their ability to identify various species.
The meetings also included a review of the pilot implementation of the initiative across the 14 branches of the Nile Egyptian International Schools. This initial phase will be followed by an assessment of its benefits to determine the feasibility of expanding the initiative to schools throughout the Republic in subsequent phases.
The "Hiwar" platform for community engagement stands as the largest initiative aimed at fostering sustainable citizen participation in the decision-making support process, facilitating direct communication.
