President Abdel Fattah El Sisi is set to inaugurate some mega projects tomorrow, which mark the hard and great effort implied in implementing the sustainable development strategy of 2030.
Among those mega projects is the New Ismailia City. The city is reportedly one of the most valuable third generation cities.
On November 6, 2014, President Sisi ratified the decree on the establishment of the New Ismailia City , which is considered the best extension to the current city as regards its location and vicinity to the Suez Canal Development Corridor. Such a city will also realize one of the national security objectives of the reconstruction of Sinai . It will accommodate the population growth and the urban expansion of Ismailia city and the surrounding governorates. This city will also serve the expected workforce in the Suez Canal development projects. It is expected to provide more than 100,000 job opportunities during the construction period.
The development of the city comes in line with plans to serve the Sinai population, as it provides homes for North Suez residents in East Sinai, in addition to fulfilling national security goals.
New Ismailia City is also the first in Egypt to combine solar energy and electricity, in addition to being the only city in Egypt to adhere to the guidelines for people with special needs in all its facilities and buildings, to facilitate their lives in the city.
The New Ismailia City is located on the east side of the New Suez Canal, on the 72nd km, and it extends from the Middle Road and reaches Mariam Mountain.
This position puts the New Ismailia City 500 meters away from the new Suez Canal Beach, stretching for 1.5 km in the northern direction towards Port Said city, and 9.5 km in the southern direction towards Suez, with a depth of 1 km inside Sinai.
The city has a total area of 2,157 acres. It holds four residential districts with 3,310 Blocks and 1,220 Villas. In addition, it contains around 57,000 residential units: 373 standalone villas and 620 semi separate villas.
Parking services occupy around 30% of the city area, where green areas take up to 53% of the city. Buildings occupy 17% of the city area. All in all, the city can hold approximately 275,000 people.
The city includes all the needed services, including hotel, open sports courts, social club, beach clubs, schools, security directorate premises, commercial stores, restaurants and cafes. It includes also swimming pools, nursing home for disabled as well as an armed forces sports club.
