Port of Alexandria welcomed the luxury cruise ship CRYSTAL SERENITY at the final Egyptian stop of a high-profile international voyage organized as part of a major event hosted by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC).

The voyage, which toured several Egyptian cities and ports while passing through the Suez Canal, was held under the theme: “Leadership Journey for Global Tourism Leaders: Recovery, Leadership, and the Future Transformation of Travel and Tourism Over the Next Decade.”

The event, hosted by the Egyptian government with broad participation from international institutions and tourism industry partners, comes at a critical moment for the global travel sector as governments and private-sector leaders seek to accelerate post-crisis recovery and strengthen long-term sustainability.

The cruise carried 202 senior figures from the global tourism and travel industry, including Egyptian ministers, international diplomats, the chairman of the WTTC, senior policymakers, chief executives, and representatives of major global tourism companies.

Officials said the voyage reflects a high level of coordination between Egyptian authorities and international stakeholders while reinforcing growing confidence in Egypt as a tourism destination capable of hosting major international events despite ongoing geopolitical challenges.

The ship was received by senior officials from the Alexandria Port Authority alongside representatives from Egypt’s ministries of transport and tourism, the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board, Alexandria governorate officials, and the Interior Ministry’s port security administration.

Authorities welcomed the international delegation and emphasized the port’s readiness to accommodate large-scale luxury tourism voyages as part of ongoing modernization efforts targeting infrastructure and operational services.

The Alexandria Port Authority has significantly expanded its maritime tourism infrastructure in recent years, positioning the passenger terminal as Egypt’s primary maritime tourism gateway.

According to officials, the port’s tourism hub now spans more than 34,000 square meters and can accommodate up to 8,000 tourists simultaneously. The terminal includes berths extending approximately 820 meters, enabling the port to receive up to four large cruise ships at the same time.

The complex also features a three-story commercial and passenger services area that includes duty-free facilities, a 24-hour shopping center with more than 100 retail outlets, as well as restaurants and cafés designed to provide a comprehensive tourism experience for international visitors.
