CAIRO, Mar. 1 (SEE) - Albanian president, Ilir Meta, and his accompanying delegation visited the Grand Egyptian Museum yesterday on the sidelines of his official visit to Egypt. This is his second cultural tour in Cairo, where he trekked around the citadel on his first day. During his visit, the president toured the museum’s Conservation Center for Restoration and the construction site of the museum
The guest president revealed his great admiration of the center. He expressed that the museum will bring pride to the whole world, and not just to Egypt.
In addition, Ashraf Muhiey Eldin, Director-General of the Giza Pyramids Antiquities Region, received the Albanian president and his delegation during a special tour in the pyramids’ area on the fringe of his visit to Egypt.
Muhiey Eldin said that the tour started with the visit of Khufu Pyramid, where Meta entered the pyramid and asked about the source of the stones, the number of builders, and the method of construction.
The tour included a visit to sphinx, by which the president showed great amazement.
The Albanian president and his delegation were very keen on taking commemorative pictures in the panorama area, which encouraged some tourists to take pictures with His Excellency.
Mohiey Eldin added that the president stressed the importance of his visit to the pyramids, and pointed out that “He who has no past, has no present.”
