Adel Bin AbdulRahman AlAsoomi, the president of the emergency meeting of the Arab Parliament's Bureau (AP), held today in Cairo, to discuss ways to address the Israeli violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque.

AlAsoomi also discussed ways to address Israel's sanctities, and the Jerusalemites residing in it since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, which constitutes a provocation to the feelings of millions of Muslims around the world, a violation of human rights, and a confiscation of freedom of worship, also represents a threat to the security and stability in the region, stressing that the Bureau of the AP will remain in a permanent meeting on the Palestinian issue and Al-Aqsa Mosque.

AlAsoomi noted that the Bureau of the AP in its meeting today, strongly condemned and denounced these grave and persistent violations by the occupying power, its continued intrusion into the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and its cowardly attacks on worshipers and Jerusalemites residing on their land, which resulted in dozens of Palestinian casualties and hundreds of arrests.

The Bureau of the AP emphasized that the occupying power’s systematic attempts to Judaize the city of Jerusalem represent a flagrant violation and gross disregard of international law and all resolutions of international legitimacy, all of which emphasize not to prejudice the historical and legal status of the city of Jerusalem as a city under occupation.

In this context, AlAsoomi highlighted that from the very beginning of these brutal violations, he addressed urgent letters to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Presidents of Regional Parliaments, and the Director-General of the UNESCO, in which he called upon them to act immediately and assume their legal, humanitarian and ethical responsibility in addressing the brutal crimes and attacks committed by the occupying power, and to provide international protection for the Palestinian people in the city of Jerusalem and in all the occupied Palestinian territories.

AlAsoomi renewed the AP’s call on the international community for urgent and immediate action through the United Nations and the UN Security Council to provide and ensure the necessary protection for the Palestinian people and to stop violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in the occupied city of Jerusalem.

AlAsoomi revealed that there is ongoing coordination and communication with the Palestinian National Council under the chairmanship of Hon. Mr. Rawhi Fattouh, President of the Council, in his turn, praised the efforts and role of the AP in supporting the Palestinian question, notably recent attacks by the occupying Power on the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque and unarmed worshippers.

AlAsoomi valued the outcomes of the emergency meeting of the Ministerial Committee mandated by the League of Arab States, to act internationally to counter illegal policies and measures carried out by the occupying power in the occupied city of Jerusalem, which held its meeting last Thursday, headed by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Bureau commended also the great efforts and moves of the League of Arab States in this regard.

The Bureau of the AP valued the positions of Arab leaders and their role in supporting the steadfastness and struggle of the Palestinian people in the face of the occupying power’s violations and defending their legitimate right to establish their independent State with Jerusalem as its capital.

The president of the AP paid tribute to the heroic resilience and sacrifices of the Palestinian people in the face of the violence and arrogance of the occupying power, which proves to the world at large that the determination and will of the right holder will never be broken, stressing that the systematic violations and persistent aggressions by the occupying forces will not succeed in subjecting the Palestinian people to surrender and despair, but would make them more determined to defend their legitimate rights.

AlAsoomi reiterated that the Palestinian issue is not just Palestinian, it is the issue of all Arabs, which reunites them from the ocean to the Gulf, and underlined that his meeting today and all other Arab moves send the message that the Palestinian cause is entrenched and rooted in the heart of every Arab and it will remain the first and central issue that unites all Arabs, adding that the Arab people will not accept the infringement of the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights or the deprivation of their most basic rights to live freely and with dignity and to establish their independent State with Jerusalem as its capital.
