Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif welcomes Egypt’s announced intention to officially intervene to support South Africa’s lawsuit against the Israel at the International Court of Justice, stressing its full support for the political leadership in this initiative. Al-Azhar adds that this initiative befits Egypt’s status and its long and honorable history within the framework of advocating for the Palestinian cause, maintaining the rights of the Palestinians, undermining the false rhetoric of oppressors and aggressors, and living up to the position of the Egyptian people in support of the steadfastness of their brothers and sisters in the Gaza Strip.
Al-Azhar calls on all people to exercise the utmost levels of political, international, and popular pressure toward stopping the bloodshed, besieging Israel politically and economically, and bringing them to trial for the terrorist crimes they have been committing for more than 75 years against the Palestinian people.
It also calls for all to work toward putting an end to the ongoing massacres that have been perpetrated for more than 220 consecutive days.
