Al-Anani Inspects King Tut's Items in GEM

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled Al-Anani witnessed on Sunday, during an inspection tour, the placing of King Tutankhamun's items in the exhibition halls designated for them in the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), amidst tight security measures.

The minister also inspected the second statue of King Ramses II, which is located in the entrance courtyard of the glass pyramid, following its restoration process, in addition to the installation work of Senusret I statues in their display areas.

The minister was accompanied during the tour by Atef Miftah, the general supervisor for the project and the surrounding area, Mustafa Waziri, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, and Al-Tayeb Abbas, Assistant Minister for Archaeological Affairs at the Grand Egyptian Museum.

Al-Anani praised the team spirit and the effort exerted in the process of transporting, restoring and placing artifacts in the exhibition halls, pointing to the continuous cooperation between the Supreme Council and the Museum to make such achievement.

Information about the second statue of King Ramses II in GEM:

King Ramses II statue is about 8 meters high and weighs about 30 tons, and it has been pided into 5 pieces since it was discovered hundreds of years ago.

This statue represents King Ramses II standing with his left foot forward, holding some scrolls in his hands and wearing a short royal kilt with folds and pleats.

The statue wears a belt around his waist decorated with ornaments and bears the king's name, and behind the statue there is a pillar inscribed with a group of hieroglyphic texts.
