Chairman of Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, met with head of European Union (EU) delegation to Yemen, Gabriel Munera Vinales.
They discussed the prospects for resuming UN mediation efforts to revive the political process in Yemen, the implications of Houthi attacks against maritime shipping for international peace and security, and the living conditions of the Yemeni people.
Al-Alimi pointed out that the meeting also discussed the path of economic and financial reforms, and the European role required to support these reforms and contain the ongoing effects of the attacks by the Houthi terrorist militias on oil facilities, including coordinated measures with brothers and friends to improve living conditions and sustain basic services.
Moreover, he praised the European Union's support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the government, and the aspirations of the Yemeni people to restore state institutions, including European pledges to alleviate human suffering, while emphasizing the importance of European friends joining the sanctions against the Houthi militias and classifying them as an international terrorist organization.
For his part, Vinales briefed chairman of Presidential Leadership Council on the latest developments in European Union's position on the Houthi militias' escalation in Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
