Al Ahly officials start talks with Swiss coach Urs Fischer, the former Union Berlin manager, to take charge of the team following the dismissal of Spanish coach José Ribeiro due to poor results.

Fischer’s track record and coaching credentials have reportedly impressed the club’s football committee, prompting them to seek his views and conditions before entering into formal negotiations.

The 58-year-old Swiss tactician is represented by Dino Lamberti, the same agent who manages former Al Ahly boss Marcel Koller.

Fischer’s positive relationship with Lamberti and existing ties with the club could help smooth the negotiation process should Al Ahly decide to make a formal move.

Meanwhile, interim coach Emad El-Nahhas has already made his mark by scrapping the goalkeeper rotation system previously used by Ribeiro.

Under that policy, Mohamed El Shenawy and Mostafa Shobeir alternated between matches, a strategy that drew criticism amid Al Ahly’s recent struggles.

El-Nahhas will oversee the team temporarily while the club works toward securing a permanent managerial appointment.
