In light of the Petroleum Products Pricing Committee's decision to adjust the price of gasoline and diesel, Cairo Governorate has amended fares for service vehicles, public transportation, mass transit, regional transportation, and white taxis.

Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo, confirmed that the new fares took into account the distance of each route and the number of trips to ensure fairness. Coordination was also undertaken with neighboring governorates connected by routes to ensure uniform fares on both sides, preventing the exploitation of citizens.

The Governor of Cairo indicated that the interests of citizens and drivers were taken into account in the new fares. The increase was 10% on most routes, and did not exceed 15% on long routes, while the public bus fare strats from 10 Egyptian pounds.

He confirmed that banners and posters displaying the new fares were clearly visible at the entrances to all bus stops.

Saber directed district heads, in coordination with the Service and Parking Departments, and the General Traffic Department, to intensify inspection campaigns to ensure all drivers adhere to the new fares and routes. They should also ensure that the new price sticker for service and public transport vehicles, including the route and fare, is displayed on the front and rear windows, in accordance with the increases.

The Cairo Governor also urged the Supply Directorate to intensify inspection campaigns at gas stations to counter any attempts to monopolize petroleum products or exploit citizens in any way.
